What’s the Difference Between Service A and Service B?

While many car manufacturers use a mileage-based system to track service intervals, Mercedes-Benz uses a structured method called the Flexible Service System (FSS). The system splits your vehicle’s regular service into two different types, consisting of:

  • Service A – Essentially, your foundational annual service, consisting of things like oil changes, brake inspections, and everything else you’d expect from an annual service.

  • Service B – A more comprehensive inspection, including everything from Service A plus additional items like brake fluid exchanges and more.

The Flexible Service System helps maximize your luxury vehicle’s performance, extending its life and helping it run at its best.

What Is Mercedes-Benz Service A?

  • Typically performed at:
    • 10,000 miles or 1 year (whichever comes first)
    • Then every 20,000 miles after that (alternating with Service B)

  • Service A includes:
    • Mercedes-Benz motor oil change
    • Oil filter replacement
    • Fluid level checks and corrections
    • Tire inflation check and correction
    • Brake component inspection
    • Reset maintenance counter

What Is Mercedes-Benz Service B?

  • Typically performed at:
    • 20,000 miles or 2 years (whichever comes first)
    • Alternates with Service A

    • Oil filter replacement
    • Fluid level checks and corrections
